The Maritime General Directorate of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure improves the quality of service by transferring ship transactions to e-Government. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu emphasized that with the digital transformation, the quality and speed of the service provided on Turkish flagged ships will increase and added: “Thanks to our e-Government service provided, by minimizing the contact in the port presidencies; we will contribute to the protection of the health of both our citizens and our personnel within the scope of the fight against Covid-19.” Karaismailoğlu said the following regarding the transfer of ship transactions to the e-Government: “With our new e-Government service, our citizens will be able to make information inquiries, first registration, transfer-cancellation applications, payment transactions online. Thanks to the services provided, by minimizing the contact in the port authorities; we will also contribute to the protection of the health of both our citizens and our personnel against Covid-19. With the other services provided by digital transformation, the service quality offered to Turkish flagged ships will increase even more.”

Citizens save time

In the statement made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, it is said that: “With the e-Government application we have developed, many transactions such as application, information inquiry and payment related to ships and marine vehicles registered in the Turkish International Ship Registry are carried out electronically without the need for our citizens to physically go to the port office. Similar to the ‘Web Deed’ application of our General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadaster, for transactions such as ship sales that require our citizens to go to the port office, most of the transactions and control will be carried out electronically. Citizens will only visit the port office to sign. In addition, the time spent by our citizens for transportation, waiting period at the port centers and collecting documents will decrease significantly and the quality and speed of our service will increase.”
